On Wednesday afternoon, the NYPD released a statement to PEOPLE reading, “On Tuesday evening, May 16, the NYPD assisted the private security team protecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests in regard.”
An unidentified official said that H and Meg had complications leaving the event and did not want the public to know where they were going. The police escorted them to a precinct 14 blocks away. At the location, they waited for a taxi. After flagging down a driver, the taxi driver said there was no chase, and he felt extremely safe. Why do numerous deceptions follow this couple?
The taxi’s driver, Sukhcharn Singh, said he never felt in danger and would not “call it a chase”. “They were quiet and seemed scared but it’s New York – it’s safe,” he told the Washington Post.
